Wisconsin Bill Proposes Combining Multiple Boards, Including Massage Therapy Board

SB 568, a bill introduced in Wisconsin, and its companion bill AB 726, is an attempt by some to reduce "red tape" in regulatory affairs. The bill would combine the boards that oversee massage therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and athletic trainers into one board.

Wisconsin Continuing Education Requirement

The Wisconsin Massage Therapy and Bodywork Affiliated Credentialing Board has announced that beginning with the license renewal period that starts on March 1, 2015, each Massage Therapist/Bodywork Therapist must complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE), including two hours of ethics, to renew a license. License renewal periods run from March 1 of every odd-numbered year to February 28 of the next odd-numbered year. This means that you must complete the required 24 hours of CE by February 28, 2017.

Wisconsin Licensure Applications Due December 1, 2010

The Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing (DRL) is now accepting applications for licensure. All massage therapists are required to become licensed by December 1, 2010 in order to continue practicing. This is a very tight deadline but the good news is, if you are diligent in filling out the application properly, the DRL processing time is 2-3 days. Submit the application as soon as possible and you will not have a problem becoming licensed by December. Transitioning Your State Certification to a State License
