Vacancies on the Alabama Massage Board

There’s a new massage board in town, and it needs qualified individuals to ensure this new era of massage regulation gets off the ground with the right team of professionals. If you’re interested in serving on the new Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board (Board), there are seven seats open to licensed massage therapists.

Being a board member is an excellent opportunity to combine the massage community’s collective viewpoints, visions, and hopes for Alabama. We encourage you to apply for a board nomination. Serving on a board is a way to become more engaged in the profession and learn about state government.

An application deadline has not been shared with ABMP, but the Board is required to be established by July 1, so email your resume and cover letter to all three of the following recipients to demonstrate your interest as soon as possible:

Board Members and Responsibilities

  • Establish instructor criteria
  • Adopt a code of ethics and an annual budget
  • Assess and collect fees
  • Maintain a record of all massage therapists
  • Oversee investigation processes
