The Alaska Board of Massage Therapists (Board) maintained its foothold to efficiently regulate the massage industry. In late March, the Alaska Senate Journal published Legislative Resolve No. 14 to disprove Executive Order No. 127, which sought to dissolve the Board and transfer its functions to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED).
With the executive order successfully overturned by the legislative resolve, the Board will continue using best practices to regulate massage therapy to advance the profession and protect the public. Functions will not be transferred to the DCCED, and the Board will remain independent.
ABMP submitted comments to support efforts to reverse the executive order to protect the Board’s autonomous administrative power and authority to provide effective and efficient massage therapy regulation. You can view our comments here.
