The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) sent an email late Friday evening with the following update:
"Today, however, we received an additional communication from the Director of the Department of Health Care Services:
I apologize but my answer was premature, and any decision about broader availability of massage therapy is a decision that should come from the California Department of Public Health and local health departments. So please wait for direction from CDPH and local health departments. I am sorry for any confusion my answer has caused. Thank you.
The up-to-date reality is that the State is not yet giving counties permission for massage therapists to generally provide services in California."
What is happening in California has been very confusing and ABMP is working to clarify the status of practice for our members. We will update our COVID-19 page and send email updates to members as we learn of clarifications. We encourage you to check with your county to stay on top of the guidelines. Sign up to learn about your county's plans and receive updates.
We appreciate your membership and will continue working on your behalf to update you as we learn more. Please check our COVID-19 page for updates. Be safe and be well.
