Illinois House Bill 0588 (HB 0588) was signed into law this legislative session and requires massage establishments to post a human trafficking resource notice in bathrooms located within their businesses. This does not affect businesses owned by sole licensed massage therapists, nor cosmetology or esthetics salons.
Massage establishments already need to post a human trafficking resource notice in entrances and/or other conspicuous places—HB 0588 simply adds the requirement to post the notice in bathrooms. The Illinois Department of Human Services has developed a model notice available for download here.
