On July 1, 2022, the Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy (Board) published proposed rules (page 25) in the Administrative Register of Kentucky. The rules affect the fee schedule and ABMP has outlined the suggested changes below.
- Initial massage therapist license fee: $200 (currently $125)
- Biennial massage therapist renewal license fee: $200 (currently $100)
- Inactive license issuance fee: $50 (new fee)
- Inactive license renewal fee: $50 (currently $35)
- Late inactive license renewal fee if the license is renewed 60 days after the expiration of the license: $70 (currently $52.50)
- Late inactive license renewal fee if the license is renewed 61–90 days after the expiration of the license: $85 (currently $70)
- Late renewal fee if the license is renewed 60 days after the license expiration date: $225 (currently $150)
- Late renewal fee if the license is renewed 61–90 days after the license expiration date: $250 (currently $200)
License reinstatement
This is a new fee section for those who let their licenses lapse and the proposed fees associated with license reinstatement. Licensees would have to apply for license reinstatement if a license is renewed beyond 90 days. The proposed rules state that a licensee can apply for license reinstatement by paying a late renewal fee of $250 in addition to the applicable reinstatement fee:
- Reinstatement fee for applications submitted 90 days but before one year after the license expiration date: $100 (new fee)
- Reinstatement fee for applications submitted after one year but before two years after the license expiration date: $150 (new fee)
- Reinstatement fee for applications after two years but before three years after the license expiration date: $200 (new fee)
- Reinstatement fee for applications submitted after three years but before four years after the license expiration date: $250 (new fee)
- Reinstatement fee for applications submitted after four years but before five years after the license expiration date: $300 (new fee)
A license will not be reinstated if more than five years have passed since the license expired; however, a person may apply for, and obtain, a new license if they meet the current requirements for licensure.
Certificate of good standing
This is another new fee section in the proposed rules designed for those wishing to obtain a certificate of good standing. Below are the suggested fees associated:
- Initial certificate of good standing fee for a massage therapy program: $125 (new fee)
- Annual renewal fee of a certificate of good standing for a massage therapy program: $75 (new fee)
- One-time certificate of good standing fee: $50 (new fee)
*Applicable only to out-of-state schools who have a graduate applying to the Board as a massage therapist.
