About the Board
The primary function of the Board is to protect the public. The Board is comprised of seven members, five of whom are licensed massage therapists and two of whom are consumers. Board members serve four-year terms. They are expected to review all board materials before each meeting. Meetings take place monthly, generally last 6–8 hours, and are either in Baltimore or virtual. Board members receive $150 for meeting attendance plus mileage reimbursement.
Board members have varied responsibilities, including issuing licenses to qualified massage therapy applicants, receiving and resolving complaints, establishing massage therapy standards, and enforcing current massage therapy statutes and regulations. Learn more about the Board here.
