The New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy has been working to draft proposed rules and regulations to implement the law passed by the legislature in January 2008. When fully implemented, the law will change the regulation of massage therapists in New Jersey from a voluntary title protection to a mandatory practice act. All massage therapists (and certain bodyworkers) will be required to obtain a state license to practice. How the board interprets and implements the law passed in 2008 is a very important step in the process. ABMP’s goal is to positively influence and educate the board members so the policies adopted are consistent with the rest of the country and result in an efficient application process for our members and other practitioners. The board will host a public conference on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at the Library Auditorium, College of New Jersey, 200 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08628. A court reporter will be present to record the proceedings. Requests to speak should be submitted in writing (address below). Specific presentation times will be assigned. Those who do not preregister to speak will be given an opportunity to do so only as time permits.
