Washington Massage Board Vacancies

Your voice, experience, and industry knowledge are invaluable assets to your practice, and they may be complimentary contributions to the Washington Massage Board (Board). The State Department of Health and the Board are seeking licensed massage therapists to fill professional member vacancies on the Board.

Being a board member is an excellent opportunity to combine the massage community’s collective viewpoints, visions, and hopes for Washington. We encourage you to apply—serving on a board is a way to become more engaged in the profession and learn about state government.

Am I Qualified?
Professional members must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a valid and current Washington massage therapy license
  • Remain licensed during appointment to the Board
  • Be a Washington resident
  • Have at least three years of massage therapy experience

How Do I Apply?
All applications must be completed and submitted online. Qualified and interested individuals can apply for a Board appointment here. Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2024.

About the Board
The Board’s mission is to protect public health and safety. Board members study issues affecting massage therapy and regulate the competency and quality of massage therapy practitioners. Some board member responsibilities include:

  • Defining, evaluating, and approving massage therapy schools and programs to prepare students for licensing examination
  • Reviewing approved schools and programs
  • Developing rules to establish standards and procedures for approving courses of study
  • Policymaking, including adopting rules relevant to massage therapy licensure
