Update: Alaska Massage Therapy Licensing Bill Introduced

The February 17-19, 2014 meetings with legislators at the State Capitol in Juneau were positive, and a massage therapy licensing bill, HB 328, has now been introduced in the Alaska state legislature.  Its sponsors are Representatives Nageak, Tuck, and Muňoz.  Click here to read the full text of HB 328.  We will continue to keep you updated on the bill’s progress.

It has recently come to ABMP’s attention that the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) – Alaska Chapter has been working with Representative Sharon Cissna on a bill which would provide for the regulation of massage therapy, including the formation of a state massage board to implement the law. ABMP’s analysis of the bill has identified the following concerns:
