Body Sense Summer 2016 is Now Available!

The Summer 2016 issue of Body Sense magazine is now available. Click here to launch.

In this issue, author Cindy Williams lets us know what research says about the benefits of massage, author Amy Andrews McMaster shows how paying attention can reduce stress through embodied awareness, and author Karin Ogren demonstrates how energy medicine is a powerful ally for health and well-being.

As an ABMP member, you have access to this beautiful publication to share with your clientele and to remind them about the value of frequent bodywork. Simply click here, then click on the “Current issue: Summer 2016” link.

Once you’ve launched the issue, you can easily forward it to your clients by copying and pasting the URL or using the “Email this page to a friend,” “Share this on Facebook,” “Share this on Twitter,” or “Social bookmark this page” links located within the digital edition itself.  

If you’re an ABMP member and you’ve designed a website through our Website Builder, add Body Sense to your website and your site will be automatically updated each issue. To do so, simply:

1. Log in to the Members section of www.abmp.com and choose "Website Builder" from the left sidebar under "Quick Links." 
2. Click on "Manage Pages." 
3. From the menu that says "New/Blank Page" select the "Body Sense magazine" page and click the "Add Page" button.  
4. Then click the "Save Changes" button to publish.

Ohio Adopts Interstate Massage Compact

The Ohio legislature adopted Senate Bill 56 on June 21, becoming the second state to enact the Interstate Massage Compact. Massage therapists will soon be able to obtain a multistate license that will reduce holdups and delays that often occur when moving to a different state.

US Department of Education 150% Rule Update

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction that halts the enforcement of the US Department of Education’s new Bare Minimum Rule, also known as the “100% rule,” until the court takes further action. This is the first step in what could be a lengthy battle to ultimately delay enforcement of the rule, providing schools more time to adjust their programmatic standards, or overturn the rule altogether. Colorado Bill Requires Local Background Checks

Governor Jared Polis signed into law House Bill 24-1371, requiring local government (counties, cities, or municipalities) to conduct periodic criminal background checks for massage establishment operators, owners, and employees.
