Idaho HB 433, recently introduced in the state legislature, would allow massage therapy schools to create tuition work-off programs whereby students could obtain tuition credit for performing massage in the school’s clinical program. Schools could choose to create such a tuition work-off program but would not be required to do so. Maryland massage therapists are currently regulated by the Board of Chiropractic and Massage Therapy, which also regulates chiropractors. A new bill, Maryland HB 1420, proposes to separate the regulation of the two professions by creating a new Board of Massage Therapy Examiners, which would regulate only massage therapists, and a separate Board of Chiropractic Examiners, which would regulate only chiropractors. As mentioned in our prior update, the Minnesota voluntary credentialing bill for massage therapists did not pass last year. However, the bill will be considered again this year in the Minnesota House of Representatives as House File 644, along with companion bill Senate File 1310.

However, the bill will be considered again this year in the Minnesota House of Representatives as House File 644, along with companion bill Senate File 1310. Representative Nick Zerwas is the chief author of HF 644 and there are over 25 co-authors.

ABMP has announced that all webinar CE is now free for members, making it easier for massage therapists and bodyworkers to access online education and save money.
“We’ve taken on the cost of CE hours to make it easier for our members,” says ABMP President Les Sweeney. “We strive to add value to ABMP membership and want our members to have more money to spend on other CE providers, and on themselves.”
