Ep 205 – Teeter Totter . . . Boom: “The Rebel MT” with Allison Denney

The relationship between the sternocleidomastoid and the upper traps is a lot more complicated than you think. Between the up and down, yes and no, and round and round decisions we all make every day, the balancing act of these two muscles can be like a seesaw that has definitely seen better days. Join Allison as she expands the posterior triangle of the neck and offers some insights to bring a little balance back.

Ep 203 – Bowel Resection and Colostomy and Colostomy Reversal : “I Have a Client Who . . .” Pathology Conversations with Ruth Werner

An older client has a complicated set of surgeries on her colon. Is it safe to receive massage? It depends, of course. But what does it depend on? Join us for this discussion of bowel resections, colostomies, and colostomy repairs—and find out one of Ruth’s very favorite pathology-related words. (Hint: it means “poop stone.”) Plus, there’s a really bad pun.

Ep 202 – The Leap of Faith: The Paradigm Shift to Becoming a Leader with Amy Andrews McMaster

Can you be a leader and a healer at the same time? In this episode of The ABMP Podcast, Darren sits down with courage-builder and collaborative change-maker Amy Andrews McMaster to discuss the Great Resignation—or better put, the Great Realignment—the characteristics of a leader, the saboteurs that get in the way of our success, and frameworks for navigating your call to courage.

Ep 199 – Nutritious Movement with Katy Bowman

People think that if they’re exercising regularly, they’ve got their bases covered. But is there more to movement than just routine exercise? In this episode of The ABMP Podcast, Kristin and Darren sit down with biomechanist Katy Bowman to discuss the concept of “movement nutrition,” alignment concepts for massage therapists, different kinds of movements our bodies should be doing each day, and what movement exercises MTs could incorporate in their daily lives.

Ep 197 – Reiki in Clinical Practice with Dr. Ann Baldwin

In this episode of The ABMP Podcast, Kristin and Darren sit down with Ann Baldwin, PhD, to discuss how she went from skeptic to convert, her training and studies in the practice of reiki, what research exists that proves the validity and success of reiki, and how reiki is being used in a clinical setting today.

Ohio Adopts Interstate Massage Compact

US Department of Education 150% Rule Update

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction that halts the enforcement of the US Department of Education’s new Bare Minimum Rule, also known as the “100% rule,” until the court takes further action. This is the first step in what could be a lengthy battle to ultimately delay enforcement of the rule, providing schools more time to adjust their programmatic standards, or overturn the rule altogether. Find out more and what your school needs to do to prepare.

Colorado Bill Requires Local Background Checks

Governor Jared Polis signed into law House Bill 24-1371, requiring local government (counties, cities, or municipalities) to conduct periodic criminal background checks for massage establishment operators, owners, and employees.
