Combining Manual & Movement Therapies in the New Massage & Bodywork Magazine

The November/December 2020 issue of ABMP's award-winning magazine Massage & Bodywork is now available at www.massageandbodyworkdigital.com, and has also been sent by mail to ABMP members.

The newest issue features the cover story "Combining Manual and Movement Therapies" by Dr. Joe Muscolino, a look into how combining the professions of manual and movement therapies into one cohesive world can benefit both client and therapist, and what specifically might a massage therapist add to their education and skill set.

Here are a few additional highlights from the new issue:

"Palliative Care Massage: The Palmer Study" by Cal Cates

In 2017, Healwell partnered with MedStar Washington Hospital Center for the Palmer Study. What resulted were unexpected lessons on worrying less about your mechanical technique and instead embracing your presence to bring your whole self to the table each time.

"Getting Back into the Groove" by Ian Harvey (includes video)

This author and bodywork practitioner is working on reopening his practice, but has been hesitant, afraid he’s lost his touch during the many months of shutdowns. Find out his thought process for overcoming this barrier.

"A Doula's Posit for the Power of Supportive Touch" by Machelle Varma

A key risk factor for maternal and infant mortality among African-American women in the US is hypertension, and it is this author’s belief that significant contributors to this condition are related to chronic racial stress. Can massage therapy and bodywork help?

ABMP members receive print copies of Massage & Bodywork magazine as part of membership, but the digital edition is available for free to the entire massage and bodywork profession at www.massageandbodyworkdigital.com.
