Spa Leader Mary Bemis to Lead GWI Sustainability Roundtable at GSN Congress

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) will host its first roundtable discussion on "the vital intersection between human and environmental wellbeing" on March 11, 2018. The invitation-only event, titled "Beyond Sustainability: Defining a New Terrain for Vital Wellbeing," will bring together international leaders from a broad range of wellness-related fields, including health, hospitality, development, architecture, and economics "to discuss the future of wellness within the context of contemporary concerns surrounding access to natural resources and climate change."

The event will kick-off the Green Spa Network's (GSN) 10th Annual Congress in Carmel Valley Ranch, California.

According to GWI, the roundtable "aims to address issues of environmental impact on wellbeing, social responsibility, and creating a baseline context for future development and investment that promote personal as well as planetary health."

Mary Bemis, spa media leader and editor-in-chief of Insider's Guide to Spas, will moderate the event. The experts on the panel include:

Bill Reed (AIA, LEED, founder Regenesis Group)
Deborah Szekely (founder Rancho la Puerta and the original Golden Door)
Mary-Elizabeth Gifford (president, Stellar Organic Certification, one of the first organic certifiers in the nation)
Veronica Schreibeis Smith (Chair, GWI’s Wellness Architecture Initiative; founding principal, Vera Iconica Design)
Kevin Kelly (founder Civana and previous CEO Canyon Ranch)
Jonathan Paul de Vierville (professor, author, and cultural historian)
Stephen Kiesling (editor-in-chief of Spirituality & Health magazine)

GWI says the roundtable discussion will be open for additional participation and question and answer from GSN Congress participants at the end of the forum session.
