Recent news reports about raids on illicit businesses masquerading as massage establishments in Florida are disturbing, particularly to ABMP and its more than 80,000 members who are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of conduct and ethics in the profession.

New Mexico Passes Senate Bill 200

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed into law New Mexico Senate Bill 200. This law amends the Massage Therapy Practice Act in several ways. The law now includes a definition of continuing education (CE) and continuing education providers.

ABMP Comments on AMTA Purchase of Massage Today, Survey

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) recently purchased Massage Today from MPA Media and began publication with the February issue. Massage Today had formerly been an independent voice in the profession since 2001, publishing news and information across the range of organizations involved in massage and bodywork.

Arkansas House Bill 1394

Arkansas House Bill 1394 (HB1394) is quickly moving through the legislature. HB1394 removes the requirement of a tuberculosis test for massage therapists to get licensed.

Iowa House File 188

In Iowa, House File 188 (HF188), has been introduced to remove the licensure requirement for massage therapists. It also expands the current law to penalize an individual or business who advertises or represents an unlicensed individual as being licensed.
